First of all, it needs to be clarified that whether electromagnetic radiation is harmful to human body is still inconclusive internationally, so the answers to many of the following questions can't be described in words, but can only be discussed based on the basic principle of prevention.
1. It is said on the Internet that in household appliances, the hair dryer has a large amount of radiation. Is it true?
Any household appliances, from flashlights and MP3 players to refrigerators and air conditioners, will generate electromagnetic radiation to some extent. The special feature of the hair dryer is that its power is high, up to 1000W, and it keeps a close distance from the human body when in use, so the electromagnetic radiation brought by the hair dryer is slightly higher than that of other household appliances. However, the frequency of this electromagnetic wave is very low, far from being as horrible as the ionizing radiation of X-ray, and its threat to human body is limited.
2. The router radiates a lot, and the stronger the signal, the greater the radiation. Is that true?
Compared with other household appliances, the radiation intensity of mainstream routers in their working frequency bands of 2.4GHz and 5GHz is indeed slightly higher. The transmitting power of routers sold in the market shall not exceed 100mW. Experiments show that the radiation intensity of the full-load mobile phone is similar to that of the standby mobile phone, but because the distance from the human body when the router is in use is much longer than that of the mobile phone, and the radiation intensity will be inversely proportional to the square of the distance, the radiation effect brought by the router is relatively small and within the acceptable range, so people don't have to worry too much about the electromagnetic radiation hazard brought by the router when it works normally.
At the same time, the signal quality of the router is not only related to its transmission power, but also related to modulation mode, multi-antenna technology, coding, etc., and the radiation intensity depends more on the transmission power, which should be considered comprehensively when discussing the relationship between signal strength and radiation intensity. If the signal enhancement is caused by simply increasing the transmission power, the corresponding radiation intensity will also be enhanced.
3. It is said that when the TV remote control changes channels, the radiation will become great. Is that true?
The TV remote control does emit infrared rays at the moment of changing channels. However, due to the low emission power of the remote control itself, the emission is completed in a short time, and the resulting radiation can be completely ignored.
4. Is it true that the radiation back of computer monitor is larger than the front?
For computers equipped with early CRT monitors, since CRT monitors emit electron beams to the screen to realize picture display, and lead-containing screens can block radiation to a certain extent, when the shielding measures on the back of computer monitors are insufficient, the electromagnetic radiation on the back may be larger than that on the front.
For today's popular LCD liquid crystal display, color development is realized by controlling the rotation direction of liquid crystal molecules. The intensity of radiation depends more on the power and power consumption of internal electronic components and external shielding measures, and the magnitude of radiation should not be judged only by the front and back of the computer.
5. Put the mobile phone into the radiation protection suit. The worse the signal of the mobile phone, the better the radiation protection effect. Is it true?
Radiation protection clothing on the market is mostly composed of metal fibers and textile fibers, and the shielding effect of metal fibers in clothing is used to reduce external radiation. According to known experiments, under ideal conditions, protective clothing does attenuate electromagnetic radiation in a certain frequency band. However, most radiation suits have different degrees of radiation attenuation at different frequencies, and it is difficult to wrap and seal the human body with protective suits in actual use. At present, there is no conclusion that electromagnetic radiation is harmful to human health, and it is also difficult to make a conclusion whether radiation suits are beneficial to human health.
